Chargers at supermarkets or highway stops work well for longer trips or when a driver is away from home long enough to justify the wait. The challenge is the detour, parking cost, and peak-time queues.
Workplace charging: a booster, not the whole answer
Charging during work hours helps, but depends on company policy and availability.
Building charger: the daily-use baseline
This is the point that solves recurring use, charging overnight, with no extra detour needed. For residents, it removes the biggest source of EV friction: range anxiety.
In short: public stations handle emergencies and trips; workplace charging boosts the day; the building charger solves the routine, and it's the only one of the three fully within the resident's control.
Why this matters for the building
Having a public charger nearby doesn't replace one in the building, it solves a different problem entirely.
